Pediatrics has always held a special place in Ashley David’s heart. “I am naturally drawn to children and babies,” she shares. “Their little spirits bring me so much happiness.”
Ashley graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Bloomsburg University in 2020. Soon afterwards she became a certified Registered Behavior Technician to gain experience as she continued her education.
She joined the Happy Hearts team as a special instructor in August 2021. Owner Jess Tofany reached out to her on Indeed after seeing her experience and education. Once they connected, it was clear that early intervention was a great fit.
As a special instructor, Ashley specializes in language skills, cognitive development, and social skills. This diversity is one of her favorite aspects of her role. “I love being able to apply my therapy skills to families and their children in a variety of ways due to the specialty being so widespread!”
She also appreciates being able to share grace with the families she works with. “Families who participate in early intervention are in a vulnerable situation,” she recognizes. “I am extremely grateful that I’m able to provide my services and impact their lives in a positive way.”
One of the best moments from her early intervention career thus far was witnessing a nonverbal autistic child say “mama” for the first time and watching that mom’s heart fill up with so much joy. “Knowing that I was able to be there for that moment was extremely precious.”
Ashley encourages all parents and caregivers who are about to start early intervention to give themselves and their child grace during this time. “There is no shame in asking for extra help along the way to improve your daily routines and your child’s development. Try to be open and receptive about your concerns. We are here to help in every way possible!”
Ashley is currently completing her master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg and will graduate in May. When she’s not working or studying, Ashley enjoys crafting, painting, and doing calligraphy. She loves spending time with her friends and family, as they are most important to her. She also loves going to Disney World in Florida, and trying out food at new restaurants.
To every parent she has the pleasure of assisting, she promises: “Just know that I will cherish your child and do absolutely everything and anything I can to advocate for his/hers/your needs during this process!”
